The story tells of a child with Autism, and a walk with his sisters who are frustrated with his behavior. During their walk Ian briefly disappears and his sister Julie decide she has to “think like Ian” and finds him at his favorite spot. The story is narrated by Julie and reflects her conflicted feelings about Ian. She loves him and feels responsible for him, but at the same time, she often feels embarrassed and angry at his behavior. Ian’s Walk is a useful tool to help family members of children with autism understand associated behaviors.
