All our bilingual books are printed in English and another language.
Our multicultural books are printed in English only and have a multicultural theme. Our range includes fictional story books and factual photographic books that represent different cultures around the world, including books on culturally based events in the community such as Ramadan and Chinese New Year.
Our books on diversity represent the many different types of families that make up Australian contemporary society and promote the values of diversity and difference. Our books support Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYF) Principal 4 by providing books that are in children’s home languages and show accurate images of children, adults or particular groups in the community and that reflect families’ cultures and languages.
We are regularly add new titles and are also happy to source titles if requested.
Kaleidoscope Books is run by a mother and daughter team. With over 40 years experience in the early childhood industry, Jenny has an astute eye for selecting books and resources that are appropriate for children, families and early childhood educators. Grace has a keen interest in languages, having lived in Jakarta and studied Indonesian language for 10 years and through her volunteer work at the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre she is dedicated to promoting the maintenance of a person’s home language.
Both Jenny and Grace are committed to providing books and stories which as well as being suitable for the early years, support our diverse communities and help maintain the first language.
